VoIP Systems
VoIP – The Essential Business Tool
In an increasingly "competitive world", businesses need to cut costs and improve efficiency to continue to grow. One area where both of these objectives may be achieved is in communications, a critical part of every business. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) offers increased functionality, additional features and other benefits not available with traditional PSTN networks.
VoIP For Small Businesses
Until a few years ago it was only the big corporations that were able to offer features like speed dialing, follow me, call transfer, call waiting, conference calls, distinctive ringing, multi ring and much more on their big and expensive on-premises PABX systems. The cost of obtaining and maintaining such complex systems was beyond the means of most small and medium businesses. The advent of VoIP has changed all that and now small users can offer all these facilities and much more at a fraction of the cost of an on-premise PABX.
With VoIP systems, the PABX is replaced by VoIP software installed on a VoIP service provider’s servers. The internet is used to communicate between the client and the service provider and all the features that VoIP has to offer are available. There is no startup investment involved and the VoIP client only has to pay a fixed monthly usage fee. And since VoIP calls are cheaper than traditional phone calls and there are no long distance charges, regardless of where in the world the call is going to, the savings are enormous. The money that would have been spent on a PABX system can be invested more profitably elsewhere and both budgeting and cash flow control become much easier.
The Advantages Of VoIP Systems
VoIP systems offer a range of benefits, beyond economical.
- Voice mail ensures that no important messages are missed.
- Follow me ensures that the person being called can be located anywhere in the office.
- Call transfer allows for calls to be redirected to residence lines outside office hours.
- Sequential and multi-ring availability means that no incoming call will be missed.
- A VoIP system can be accessed from anywhere in the world where there is internet, so people can be contacted on the same number and can contact others wherever they may be.
- There are no connectivity problems with PSTN lines for both incoming and outgoing calls.
- Clients can select area codes of their choice. This is very useful especially in the case of geographical regions outside of where your company is located that you are interested in conducting business with. If one line is given to that region’s area code, customers can contact the company, wherever it may be located, by making just a local call.
- Voice to email, network faxing and other advanced features are all available at very low costs.
- The standard features of do not disturb, caller ID and others are all available with a VoIP system.
VoIP Systems – A Business Essential
With more and more companies switching over to VoIP and offering world class communications, customer and stake holder expectations when communicating with a business are becoming more sophisticated and demanding. A company that does not offer these features will be considered to be behind the times and inefficient. The low cost of VoIP systems and the ease of use make offering world class communications now possible for even small businesses.
